The Gippsland Water Factory is an innovative and advanced wastewater treatment and water recycling facility located in Maryvale, in the Latrobe Valley. The project was delivered by the Gippsland Water Factory Alliance and includes a membrane bioreactor, which treats up to 35 ML/d of domestic and industrial wastewater, plus a reverse osmosis facility producing approximately 8 ML/d of high quality recycled water for local industry. The wastewater is collected and conveyed by the GWF Transfer System comprising more than 75 km of new pipelines, 4 new pump stations plus upgrades to existing pump stations. The project also includes a Visitors Centre to provide community education on the water cycle, reuse and membrane technologies.
